As the California Political Director for the Ecosystems Program, Pablo Garza develops and implements policy initiatives to help achieve Environmental Defense Fund’s (EDF) water and habitat objectives. He works closely with industry leaders, policymakers, agency staff and other environmental NGOs to shape smart policies that consider sustainable resource management. He coordinates across multiple program areas in order to track, identify and respond to political trends that may impact EDF’s mission.

Background

Pablo worked in the California State Legislature for 5 years where he staffed various legislators advising them on various environmental, health, and consumer protection policy issues. In 2008, he went to work for The Nature Conservancy (TNC) as a regional government relations manager and spent time traveling up and down the Central Valley working on restoration, conservation, land use, and water issues. He was promoted to TNC’s lead state government relations representative in 2011, where he worked to advance their mission across multiple program areas.
