Making farming more sustainable and productive

The problem: Farmers around the world face more intense heatwaves, droughts and floods, which makes it harder to grow food and raise livestock. In many places, the future of farming — and people’s access to food — is at risk. At the same time, agriculture contributes one-quarter of the pollution that causes climate change and makes extreme weather worse.

What we’re doing about it: To make sure farmers and rural communities are successful today and in the future, we focus on solutions that balance the needs of people and the land. That means expanding farming practices that help crops and livestock withstand increasingly severe weather — and help cut the pollution that causes climate change, too.
