Widely recognized as the foremost champion of harnessing market forces for environmental ends, Fred is co-author of Earth: The Sequel—The Race to Reinvent Energy and Stop Global Warming.
Diane provides overall program vision, strategy and leadership. She previously led EDF’s oceans program as it transformed the U.S. fishing industry through catch shares management. Prior to that, Diane worked at EPA in some of the agency’s highest positions.
Frank Convery, Ph.D.
Frank, founding director of University College Dublin’s Earth Institute, helps EDF formulate solutions that harness the power of markets and economic evidence to drive environmental progress. His team works across EDF’s programs so that economic analysis informs our decisions and directions.
Cheryl leads the People function at EDF, spearheading our efforts to bring the best and brightest talent to EDF. She possesses a unique background, with experience in the corporate, consulting, and legal worlds. Cheryl previously served as the Vice President, People & Performance at Sealed Air Corporation.
Steven Hamburg, Ph.D.
Steven ensures the scientific integrity of EDF’s positions and programs. He has been involved in biogeochemistry/forest ecology research for more than 25 years and has published more than 100 scientific papers. As a lead author for the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change Steven was acknowledged as one of the contributing recipients of the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize.
Senior VP Global Strategy
Paula ensures that EDF’s geographic expansion is aligned with its strategic plan so that EDF is well positioned to expand its effectiveness, influence, and impact beyond the United States. She has over two decades of experience in high net worth fundraising domestically and globally.
Senior VP Strategy and Communications
Eric works with program staff to develop and implement strategies to achieve our environmental advocacy goals. Author of The Climate War, Eric has served as managing editor of Fortune and national editor, chief political correspondent, and White House correspondent for Time.
Chief of Staff
Derek facilitates the day-to-day operations and decision-making of the executive office and the Executive Team and is responsible for special projects and relationship management on behalf of the President. Prior to joining EDF in 2007, Derek was Executive Director of the Maryland Democratic Party.
Daniel J. Dudek, Ph.D.
An economist, Dr. Dudek leads EDF’s office in China. He is widely credited with developing the cap-and-trade model that the U.S. adopted for sulfur dioxide in the early 1990s, which led to dramatic reductions in acid rain.
Senior VP Ecosystems
As head of EDF’s West Coast and conservation activities, David creates significant improvements in conservation policies and the economic performance of businesses. Prior to EDF, David worked as a journalist, management consultant, and director of policy for the U.S. Department of Commerce.
Nathaniel Keohane, Ph.D.
VP International Climate
Dr. Keohane leads our International Climate program. Previously, he served as Special Assistant to President Obama for Energy and Environment in the National Economic Council and Domestic Policy Council.
Senior VP Oceans
Amanda leads an international team of experts who implement practical solutions to recover ailing fisheries and oceans. Amanda’s prior experience includes research with commercial fishermen in Maine and work on ocean issues as a Congressional staffer.
Jim Marston, J.D.
VP Clean Energy
Jim is the founding director of EDF’s Texas office, where he has served since its beginning in 1988. He is a leader of Pecan Street Inc., the Austin-based smart grid partnership, and, in 2007, won the fight to stop utility TXU from building coal plants in Texas.
VP Corporate Partnerships
Tom spearheads EDF’s Corporate Partnerships program, working with multinational companies to accelerate environmental innovation. Prior to joining EDF, Tom held several positions at ICF International and Jellinek, Schwartz & Connolly.
Vickie Patton, J.D.
Vickie directs our national and regional clean air programs. For two decades, she has championed and defended vital reductions in air pollution. She began her career in EPA’s Office of General Counsel.
Senior VP Climate & Energy
Gwen ensures world-class execution of EDF’s strategies to protect human health and the environment. She previously led our Corporate Partnerships program, working with leading companies to develop innovative solutions to environmental challenges.
Vice President, US Climate & Political Affairs and President, EDF Action
Elizabeth oversees the organization’s federal advocacy efforts, with a particular focus on climate change. She has an extensive policy and legislative background and, in her prior role as Legislative Director, was lead strategist for EDF on the U.S. Climate Action Partnership.
Sarah works with a team of scientists and policy experts to protect health by reducing exposure to toxic chemicals.
