Work
Alexis manages the Fishery Solution Center’s efforts to understand the challenges and opportunities that exist in the complex, interacting systems that shape fisheries. She also provides governance and policy support to regions to examine and overcome barriers to sustainable fishing projects, with a focus on small-scale fisheries management and implementation.
Background
Alexis has lived in fishing communities in the Philippines and Mexico where she worked on marine protected areas, sustainable fisheries projects and in environmental education. Prior to working with EDF, she was a Knauss Fellow with the NMFS Office of International Affairs. She earned her Master’s degree in Marine Biodiversity and Conservation from Scripps Institution of Oceanography and a B.S. in Biology from Boston College.
