As EDF’s Policy Manager, Global Shipping, Sam Yarrow-Wright focuses on developing EDF’s position within the International Maritime Organization by engaging with states, other non-governmental organizations, and industry. His effort centers around practical, high ambition policy and paths that offer the greatest opportunity for all states – with a particular focus on small island developing states and least developed countries.  

Background

Prior to his current role, Sam worked on developing marine planning policy for the UK Government and was part of the UK’s delegation to the International Maritime Organization, where he acted as Alternate Head of Delegation for many of IMO’s Committees and Sub-Committees. During this time, he was also responsible for coordinating all EU matters prior to, during, and after Brexit. For many years, Sam has been both a Careers at Sea Ambassador and the Vice-Chairman of the Trinity House Yeoman Scheme, which aims to support young seafarers starting their career.
