Matt leads Environmental Defense Fund’s U.S. oceans work. He oversees teams in the Gulf of Mexico, Pacific, New England, and D.C. working with fishermen, seafood buyers, managers, policy-makers and other stakeholders to help restore U.S. fisheries to abundance.

Background

Matt has worked in the marine conservation field since 2008, previously as Vice President for External Affairs at Ocean Conservancy and Executive Director of the Marine Fish Conservation Network. Prior to his tenure in the non-profit sector Matt worked at the Australian Embassy in Washington, DC, as an in-house lobbyist and political analyst for the Australian Government; and on Capitol Hill, as a legislative fellow in the office of Senator Jeff Bingaman (D-NM).
