Heavy-duty standards case resources

In August of 2016 the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Department of Transportation's National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) strengthened new greenhouse gas and fuel efficiency standards for the nation's heavy trucks. The standards will ensure that our nation's fleet of trucks and buses uses dramatically less fuel, cuts climate and other harmful pollution, and saves both truckers and consumers money.

However, these standards are now under attack. EPA has issued an assurance that it will not enforce pollution limits on super-polluting “glider” trucks. And the Truck Trailer Manufacturers Association has asked the court for a stay of EPA's standards for freight trailers – one part of the Clean Truck Standards. EPA and NHTSA have also said they are reconsidering provisions of the standards for trailers and gliders through administrative action.

Undermining the Clean Truck Standards would cost consumers and truckers money and mean more harmful pollution for our communities and families. We will work to defend the standards.
