Harry Reid “Sees a Future with Both a Healthy Climate and a Healthy Economy”
Statement of EDF President Fred Krupp on Reid’s Announcement that He Will Not Run for a Sixth Term
“Harry Reid has been a leader on climate, clean energy and the environment, and when he retires the environment will lose a champion in Congress.
“Reid has fought to protect the natural treasures in his beloved home state. He has worked for decades to restore Lake Tahoe, and helped create the Great Basin National Park and the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area. He has also fought repeatedly to protect and improve the Clean Air Act, urged EPA to clean up mercury pollution from power plants, and has been deeply involved in water issues, especially for drought-prone Southern Nevada.
“Reid is also a strong believer in the economic promise of renewable energy. He sees a future with both a healthy climate and a healthy economy, and we look forward to working with him on those goals during his remaining term in the Senate.”
