ISSB’s proposed updates strengthen sector methane disclosures; with methane driving major warming, we support these changes and urge stakeholder feedback.

As climate change fuels more extreme weather, the Atlantic hurricane season is stretching longer each year—and the storms themselves are becoming more powerful. Yet meteorologists still lack the near-shore ocean data needed to accurately forecast these increasingly unpredictable systems.

DOE’s opaque changes to emissions model risk U.S. competitiveness and global credibility. EDF finds that the changes could let fossil hydrogen projects claim methane emissions rates up to nine times lower than real-world measurements, cutting reported carbon intensity nearly in half and steering billions in credits toward hydrogen that wouldn’t meet U.S. or EU standards. The section 45V clean ... The post Flawed hydrogen tax credit implementation could undermine billions in U.S. projects appeared first on Energy Exchange.

U.S. clean energy manufacturing surged 2021–2024, but Trump-era policy shifts and tax credit cuts now threaten progress with rising project cancellations.

Six of the last 10 months have seen negative overall investment, meaning new investments were overwhelmed by cancellations.

Canada pledged 75% methane cuts by 2030, but delays waste gas and harm climate; EDF analysis estimates the economic value of this lost resource.

Utility regulators at the Illinois Commerce Commission sharply reduced rate increases sought by suburban gas utility Nicor and downstate utility Ameren.

The Trump administration issued another illegal emergency order forcing the J.H. Campbell power plant in Michigan to operate for an additional 90 days.

EDF estimates Canada’s wasted gas using official data: methane emissions + flared volumes converted to gas value via AECO-C Hub price averages.

During the government shutdown, billions of dollars for energy projects were canceled by the Department of Energy. What do all these projects have in common? They are located in states that did not vote for Donald Trump in 2024.

Disinformation that stirs social division and distrust is also spreading in the field of climate change.

With EPA granting Texas primacy over Class VI wells, the state now controls permitting and oversight of underground carbon storage — and must prove it can enforce strong, science-based standards that protect people, water and climate. To build global credibility and public trust, the Railroad Commission should strengthen monitoring, seismic risk management, enforcement capacity ... The post Will Texas carbon storage primacy spark a world-class permitting and enforcement program, or will it merely check the boxes? Only time will tell – and the world is watching appeared first on Energy Exchange.

U.S. clean energy manufacturing boomed since 2021, but 2025 policy shifts and tax credit cuts slowed growth, risking jobs and investment progress.

This global pledge marks a milestone in building wildfire resilience across tropical regions and embedding prevention-first approaches.

Automakers, manufacturers, utilities and even oil and gas associations expressed serious concerns with the Trump administration’s plan to repeal the Endangerment Finding, which underpinned the creation of nearly 200,000 American manufacturing jobs and kept U.S. companies competitive abroad. Experts say that scrapping the finding, the scientific determination that planet-warming pollution is a threat to people’s health and safety, would mean chaos.
