Webinars and resources for local leaders
Throughout 2026, EDF hosted webinars for mayors and local leaders designed to connect them with resources to empower their climate action. From deep dives into tools assisting city health decision-making to actionable solutions for taking on extreme heat, our goal has been to connect officials and the communities they represent to useful information. View the webinar recordings and highlighted resources on this webpage.
City Clean Air Hub
The City Clean Air Hub is a free, one-stop web resource designed to help city leaders track air pollution, communicate health risks, and design and implement strategies for cleaner, healthier communities. Our July webinar offers a walkthrough for getting the most out of this tool and answers city officials’ questions about its applications.
City Health Dashboard
The City Health Dashboard offers data on 45 measures of health and drivers of health for cities, down to the neighborhood level. For communities and city leaders, this is a valuable tool for improving the health and wellbeing of the 80% of U.S. residents that live in urban areas.
Resources for extreme heat
Each year, extreme heat is the deadliest weather-related hazard in the United States. That danger can be especially pronounced in cities, where varying access to air conditioning, shade and other cooling interventions leaves many residents’ health at risk. Local and city officials can lean on our extreme heat resources to better protect their communities: https://datasmart.hks.harvard.edu/heat-action-hub
Resources for more affordable, reliable power
Rising utility bills are an often underappreciated consequence of increasingly extreme weather, with some families forced to choose between paying for electricity or paying for groceries. Transmission lines are the connecting force that gets power from where it’s generated to where it's used, and communities have more influence over how and where power lines get built than they might realize. Explore our resources on how local leaders can ensure new transmission lines result in more affordable, reliable power for their communities: https://www.edf.org/beyond-wires-community-benefits-transmission-projects
