Description

Angie is a member of the energy transition program’s leadership team responsible for developing and implementing multidisciplinary, cross programmatic, international strategies and teams to advance a multi-faceted global transportation strategy. She leads our shipping, aviation, and overall global goods and people movement effort. Angie works in close collaboration with regional teams in China, Europe, India, and the U.S., as well as our project office in Japan.

Background

Angie joins Environmental Defense Fund from the World Economic Forum where she was a key member of the Transport and Supply-Chain Industry team and Climate and Nature teams. There, she focused on decarbonizing heavy-duty trucking, harnessing green demand initiatives across modes and overseeing the trucking and maritime work across regions. She launched Road Freight Zero in Europe as part of the Mission Possible Partnership in September of 2020 with the objective of accelerating the transition of heavy-duty fleets and infrastructure. The coalition includes over 40 companies and organizations working together on this goal. She also helped to launch the First Movers Coalition, the Sustainable Freight Buyers Alliance and collaborated on other projects with multiple partners to standardize emissions reporting and accounting frameworks across freight and logistics. Angie was also seconded into the COP27 High-level Champions team as the Global Road Transport Sector Lead in 2022. In previous roles, Angie was the Director of Transport & Logistics and Collaborations Portfolio at Business for Social Responsibility, where she led strategy consulting projects with major corporates and award-winning multi-stakeholder initiatives such as the Clean Cargo Working Group, Green Freight Asia and the Maritime Anti-Corruption Initiative; and, prior to that, Manager and Lead Auditor at Deloitte Sustainability Advisory Services, leading innovative consulting and assurance projects for companies worldwide. Angie is of Egyptian heritage, and speaks English, French and Arabic.

Education:

Angie holds an Executive MSc in Energy Management, from a joint program led by BI Oslo, IFPP Paris and ESCP Paris; an MSc in Environment and Development Studies from SOAS, University of London: and, a BSc in Environmental Sciences from Southampton University.
