EDF Compares "Green" Electricity Products In California
The Environmental Defense Fund (EDF) today announced the launch of its web page comparing “green” electricity products in California. Customers who want to make an environmental difference by purchasing environmentally preferable electricity from renewable energy sources such as wind, solar, and geothermal, but are confused about the products, can now find clear answers on EDF’s web page.
With the restructuring of California’s electric utility industry, consumers now have the opportunity to choose who they will buy electricity from. “Our web page compares the prices and sources of each provider’s green products, and discusses what to look for when choosing a product,” said Christo Artusio, EDF research associate. The page links to each provider’s web page, so customers can compare products first-hand, and then sign up on the web.
The Green Electricity Comparison Page can be found by pointing your Internet browser to:

The Green Electricity Comparison Page also links to an on-line calculator that estimates your sources of electricity and resulting pollution, as well as to pages describing the pros and cons of each source of electricity, the impacts of pollution, and the importance of labeling electricity.
“Our new Green Electricity Comparison Page will help customers who want to make an environmental difference, but need clear information to make an intelligent decision,” said Artusio. EDF’s other pages on Green Electricity help customers make the connection between flipping the light switch and the environmental, health, and economic damage that results from current electricity production. EDF believes that educated consumers can be a powerful force for the environment; its web page helps them educate themselves.
With more than 3 million members, Environmental Defense Fund creates transformational solutions to the most serious environmental problems. To do so, EDF links science, economics, law, and innovative private-sector partnerships to turn solutions into action. edf.org
