Chris Wright Nominated for Secretary of Energy
Statement of EDF Executive Director Amanda Leland
“The path to a stronger economy, more jobs, and a healthier future for the United States relies on continuing investment in clean energy. There is a worldwide race for clean energy innovation – America can lead or be left behind.
“Shutting down investment in clean energy makes America weaker. It sends jobs to other countries, raises prices, and pollutes the air and water. If we turn our back on the cheapest forms of new energy – like solar and wind power – it will make energy more expensive for American consumers.
“Any nominee, including Chris Wright, who ignores the stakes in this global clean energy race – or fails to recognize the urgent challenge of climate change – should concern all of us. If the Trump administration blocks investments in energy efficiency and clean energy technologies, it will jeopardize the health of communities across our country, destroy job opportunities, and make our nation less competitive.
“American can only win by competing. We can only secure a safe, stable, and prosperous future by continuing the clean energy investments that are on track to create millions of jobs.”
