The Trump EPA has issued its third damaging deadline extension for the Greenhouse Gas Reporting Program, a vital source of public information about climate pollution from some of the largest sources nationwide.

“Blocking Americans’ access to information about the pollution causing climate change will only make it harder and more expensive to prepare for extreme weather like the events that are already devastating communities across the country,” said Edwin LaMair, Senior Attorney with Environmental Defense Fund. “A wide variety of state and local governments, businesses and communities use information from the Greenhouse Gas Reporting Program to better understand and address the pollution that causes climate change. Without it, we’ll all be less equipped to prevent the worsening storms, wildfires and floods that are driving up insurance costs and putting Americans everywhere at risk.”

Environmental Defense Fund sued the Trump administration in March 2025 over its first attempt to delay requirements for companies to disclose their climate pollution under the Greenhouse Gas Reporting Program. Environmental Defense Fund and a coalition of partners sued the Trump administration in April 2026 over its second attempt.
