Pennsylvania’s Natural Gas Rulemaking is a Step in the Right Direction
Statement from Andrew Williams, Senior State Regulatory and Legislative Affairs Manager, Natural Gas
(HARRISBURG, Pa. – March 9, 2015) Environmental Defense Fund commends Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf and the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) for proposing sensible improvements to the state’s oil and gas laws.
“The proposed rules in revised Chapter 78 are a good step forward to protect Pennsylvania’s communities and environment from the local impacts and risks associated with natural gas extraction. These much-anticipated regulatory revisions reflect the administration’s commitment to responsible shale development.
“As the Chapter 78 publication and comment period draw near, EDF looks forward to working with the administration and other stakeholders to ensure the finalization of the strongest rules possible.”
