Sen. Jim Jeffords was a true champion for the environment
“Senator Jim Jeffords was an environmental champion throughout his career, from his work in Vermont to his national leadership as Chairman of the Senate Committee on the Environment and Public Works. I had the privilege of working with Senator Jeffords both when he was a Republican and when he was an Independent, and at all times he was willing to put issues above politics, and work with his colleagues on both sides of the aisle to find solutions. His death is a great loss for America and for the environmental community. I will miss him.”
