Rebecca Haynes focuses on developing impact investing and conservation finance initiatives that drive the adoption of sustainable agricultural practices to generate income for farmers and financial returns for investors. She also developed the first pilot projects for landowners to profit from conserving grasslands by generating carbon offset credits through a new methodology.

Background

Prior to joining EDF, Rebecca worked in environmental education in rural communities of Kenya and conducted ecology research on the Osa Peninsula on rainforest species composition, human-wildlife conflict and environmental policy. Most recently, she wrote a thesis on the political and economic drivers of forest cover change in Costa Rica.
