Overall Function

 

The Operations Manager, Economics and Global Climate Cooperation (EGCC) will report to the Senior Operations Manager and will work closely with EDF’s Chief Economist and its Vice President of Global Climate, other members of the EGCC team, and managers of other programs. The Operations Manager supports critical work for the growing EGCC team, ultimately enhancing EGCC’s ability to achieve strategic goals related to economic policy & analysis and multilateral climate collaboration. The Operations Manager will work collaboratively with the stakeholders to develop, track and progress EGCC initiatives related to strategic and financial planning, development/fundraising, human resources, and team communications and cohesion. Additionally, the Operations Manager will lead planning and execution of departmental special projects that enhance team effectiveness and efficiency, including transtion to new systems, tools, and processes.

New York office preferred with hybrid schedule; open to other U.S. offices or U.S. remote for the right candidate.  

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute comprehensive project plans to enable the team to transition to new systems and tools, including gathering business requirements, evaluating solution options, collaborating with IT and other departments to plan a rollout, and ensuring team is trained and knowledgeable in new systems and tools
  • Document existing business processes, identify relevant best practices, and support training, change management, and communications to rollout enhanced business processes
  • Track and progress recruitment for open positions by working with hiring mangers to draft job descriptions, connecting with HR to develop and execute an interview plan, and collating interviewees’ feedback and recommendations
  • Manage a system to identify and track team funding needs and status of current grants; facilitate meetings and write project summaries to inform EDF Development of EGCC work underway
  • Assist project leads in drafting reports for funders by collating relevant project and budget information and coordinating stakeholder reviews; review reports written by EDF Development team to ensure accuracy of EGCC content
  • Manage a system to track team-wide project updates and synthesize content for inclusion in internal and external communications
  • Support team building and team cohesion by identifying and planning opportunities to connect and interact, including annual team retreat, professional development sessions, and year-round social activities
  • Oversee planning and execution of a series of seminars to disseminate EGCC economics and policy analysis to internal and external stakeholders
  • Create updates to communicate Operations project goals and status to colleagues and team leaders
  • Collaborate with Operations counterparts in other departments to progress interrelated projects and share best practices
  • Contribute to agenda planning for key team meetings and planning sessions; follow up on key action items
  • Leverage understanding of team strategy and operations to suggest new project ideas, e.g. process enhancements, trainings, new tools
  • Participate in advancing EDF DEI goals in which people from all backgrounds and experiences feel connected, included, and empowered to address the environmental and organizational challenges in alignment with EDF values
  • Assist project teams in drafting contracts and agreements, coordinating necessary reviews while ensuring compliance with EDF policy

Qualifications

  • At least 6 years of operations, project management, strategic planning or related experience, or advanced degree with at least 4 years of related experience
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • High initiative and capability to identify next steps, proactively assess risks, and address challenges with the support of team leadership
  • Outstanding ability to collaborate with multiple departments/functions to drive execution of initiatives
  • Experience building and executing end-to-end project plans to implement a new business process, tool, or system
  • Solid business and financial acumen and analytical skills with an ability to present financial, strategic planning, and performance management issues in a clear and concise way
  • Demonstrates self-awareness, cultural competency and inclusivity, and ability to work with colleagues and stakeholders across diverse cultures and backgrounds
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to work with colleagues and partners of varied backgrounds and experience
  • Passion for EDF’s mission; knowledge of climate and energy issues, and economic and market-based solutions to environmental challenges is a plus

We offer a strong total rewards package encompassing competitive salary, robust benefits, and professional development opportunities consistent with a modern global organization.

The pay range for this role is 81,000 - 89,000 USD which takes into account factors such as candidate experience, skills, training, internal team equity and local norms.
