Oil and Gas Communications Intern

With world attention on both the environment and the economy, Environmental Defense Fund (EDF) is where policymakers and business leaders turn for win-win solutions. By focusing on strong science, uncommon partnerships and market-based approaches, we tackle urgent threats with practical solutions. We are one of the world’s largest environmental organizations, with more than two million members and a staff of approximately 630 scientists, economists, policy experts, and other professionals around the world. We operate in 22 geographies with unique projects running across four programs. You will be part of a vibrant workplace that welcomes diverse perspectives, talents and contributions, where innovation and results are a way of life.

EDF’s Oil & Gas Program

Oil and Gas is an important and growing part of our nation’s energy portfolio.  It emits fewer greenhouse gases than coal when combusted and avoids mercury and other dangerous air pollutants that come from coal.  It could be a win-win, if—and this is a big ‘if’—we do it the right way.  The “right way” entails putting tough rules in place that lock in mandatory environmental safeguards to protect communities and reduce methane pollution, which undermines Oil and Gas’ role as a lower carbon alternative to coal and oil.  EDF is taking a leading role to ensure that Oil and Gas provides real and sustained carbon benefits without harming the environment or health of the communities where gas development occurs.
