Marketing Data Analyst

The Performance Marketing Team’s (PMT) mission is to increase EDF’s effectiveness with clear, timely, and actionable marketing insights and Return-On-Investment driven audience acquisition. Within that team, the Analytics & Insights Team (A&I) empowers performance marketing by having a thorough understanding of the business questions of our internal clients and their related data needs and leveraging the technology and infrastructure to provide these insights. The Data Analyst will fulfill routine reporting and ad hoc analytics requests from colleagues (Acquisition, Web, Social, and Content Teams) and provide them with actionable insights that allow them to make better and more informed decisions. The ideal candidate will need to be a creative problem solver with solid analytical and data manipulation abilities, an aptitude for learning, and strong attention to detail. Experience using data visualization tools is required, and knowledge of statistical packages to analyze structured and unstructured datasets is a plus. This position serves a vital role in fostering a data-informed mindset within the organization.



  • Take lead on internal clients and hold responsibility for their analytics needs
  • Manage standard weekly, monthly, and quarterly reporting
  • Perform analyses on disparate sets of data to extract actionable insights
  • Communicate data-driven insights and recommendations to key stakeholders
  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams of analysts and marketers
  • Build reports from the ground up to visualize data in a way that generates actionable insights
  • Monitor both top-line and bottom-line impact of programs to achieve growth, revenue and ROI goals
  • Combine data from multiple systems in order to get a full profile of constituent activity
  • Document processes used to produce queries, reports, and routine analyses
  • Assist in the organizing and analyzing of marketing experiments
  • Research data hygiene issues
  • Develop performance benchmarks for social media accounts
  • Participates in advancing EDF DEI goals in which people from all backgrounds and experiences feel connected, included, and empowered to address the environmental and organizational challenges in alignment with EDF values


  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in a quantitative discipline (equivalent experience can replace formal degree)
  • 2+ years of experience in data analysis
  • History of creative, logical, and analytical thinking
  • Naturally inquisitive, with a curiosity for understanding root causes
  • Ability to abstract specific insights from large datasets
  • Self-learner and strong attention to detail a must
  • Ability to conduct quality assurance of deliverables
  • Proficiency in Excel and web analytics tools (Google Analytics preferred)
  • Demonstrated proficiency using at least one major BI Tool (Tableau preferred)
  • Experience with statistical tools a plus (R preferred)
  • Intermediate to advanced SQL a plus
  • Experience with Snowflake a plus
  • Clear business communication skills with ability to ask focused questions to quickly interpret and resolve user needs and ability to effectively communicate technical concepts and insights from data
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • Experience with and knowledge of marketing concepts and frameworks (e.g. funnel metrics, acquisition costs, ROI) a plus
  • Commitment to environmental progress is not required, but it will make the work more interesting
