Overall Function

The Manager, Campaigns and Partnerships is a key staff member of the Political Affairs team.  Reporting to the Director of Campaigns, Political Affairs, this person manages the program’s activities related to building and activating a powerful network of influencers to advance EDF’s policy goals, including partner organizations, grasstops, and surrogates. 


The position requires an individual who understands how to get things done in a large, complex organization through influence and collaboration.  It is also essential that the person have experience in managing high-level relationships (internal and external) and partner networks, and in handling sensitive and confidential information.  Lastly, this position requires someone who is entrepreneurial, can seize on strategic opportunities, and initiates engagement efforts.


Key Responsibilities

  • Build and activate Political Affairs’ influencer and partnerships network to engage policy makers, which includes developing engagement plans, designing and executing rapid response opportunities, creating and executing activities like briefings, trainings, webinars
  • Produce materials for influencers and partners to assist and support their engagement, including talking points, fact sheets, backgrounders, policy support letters, toolkits, and other outreach materials
  • Manage and administer annual Summer of Action partner grants program, including leading a team to develop the Request for Proposals, to screen proposals, and to manage grants through to completion. Develop programming to support partners, including briefings and annual fly-in.
  • Participate in advancing EDF DEI goals in which people from all backgrounds and experiences feel connected, included, and empowered to address the environmental and organizational challenges in alignment with EDF values
  • Maintain records and track communications and activities to ensure continuity and long-term relationship management, working with EDF’s Strategic Relationship Management Team
  • Serve as staff resource for Quorum subscription to generate reports for Political Affairs team


  • Bachelor’s degree is required, with at least six years of experience
  • Strong understanding of the political process; must be comfortable articulating complicated policies and procedures for a lay audience
  • Proven skill at building relationships to engender trust and influence cross-functionally to drive execution toward common goals
  • Strong personal organization, time management and prioritization skills; ability to multi-task and get work done under pressure; and a relentless dedication to follow up
  • Demonstrates self-awareness, cultural competency and inclusivity, and ability to work with colleagues and stakeholders across diverse cultures and backgrounds
  • Good judgement, initiative, and ability to anticipate problems and follow through with confidence
  • Issue advocacy and organizing experience a plus
  • Experience with relational databases a plus
  • Experience working in a large matrixed organization a plus
