The Legislative Analyst will be an integral member of Environmental Defense Fund’s US Climate Political Affairs program legislative team, working in a high-intensity and multi-disciplinary setting, to advocate on range of climate clean air and other environmental policies.
The Legislative Analyst responsibilities will include:
- Building relationships with Congressional offices and serving as an advocate with Congressional offices on a range of clean air, climate, and other EDF priorities in coordination with Environmental Defense Action Fund
Representing EDF at environmental coalition meetings and other outreach efforts
Conducting research related to various aspects of clean air, climate, and policy including summarizing and tracking legislative proposals, hearings, and votes
Drafting and disseminating correspondence, fact sheets and other advocacy and outreach materials, including via social media channels
Managing internal processes, coordinating congressional outreach across the political affairs program, maintaining information databases
- Two or more years of Hill or Hill-related experience, preferably serving as a Legislative Correspondent or Legislative Assistant; Political campaign or Executive Branch experience would be a plus.
Bachelor or Master Degree in environmental and/or energy related field, political science or public policy preferred
Exceptional organization skills and attention to detail
Strong analytical and problem solving skills
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Ability to recognize and build on political opportunities
Experience working with coalitions
Results-oriented, proactive individual with the ability to think strategically and carry out responsibilities in a timely and effective manner with minimal supervision
Interest and working knowledge of current issues relating to climate change, energy efficiency, clean energy, and air quality
