Energy Program Overview


The goal of the EDF Energy Program is to bend the curve on greenhouse gas emissions from oil and gas production and use by 2030, while meeting the world’s energy needs cleanly and equitably. We are achieving this through a defined set of objectives targeted at 1) reducing emissions from oil and gas production, delivery, and use, and 2) reducing demand for oil and gas in power generation, transportation, buildings, and industry. To achieve our goal, we seek reforms in law, regulation, and/or business practice through a set of strategic corporate partnerships, direct engagement with policymakers, and mobilizing investor and public sentiment in favor of change. In achieving our objectives, we facilitate cutting-edge science, technical innovation, and rigorous economic and financial analysis to develop durable solutions.

EDF’s Energy program seeks to reduce oil and gas methane emissions 45% from 2012 levels by the end of 2025. Our long-term vision is that effective government policies and industry practices will virtually eliminate methane emissions from the global oil and gas industry, thereby reducing total anthropogenic methane emissions by approximately one-third. Our goal of reducing oil and gas methane emissions 45% by 2025 represents a first, critical step toward achieving this vision. The MethaneSAT project, run through EDF’s wholly owned subsidiary MethaneSAT LLC (MethaneSAT), will be able to locate, measure, and monitor global methane emissions and is an essential tool to win this fight. We will succeed only if we leverage data procured from MethaneSAT to secure meaningful emissions reductions from those with the power to act. To accomplish this, we have developed an advocacy strategy and are in search for a campaign director.


Overall Function


Under the direction of the Project Manager, Energy Program Operations, the Coordinator provides vital programmatic and administrative support by developing and implementing efficient protocols for project tracking, program expenses, invoice and contract management, scheduling, and meeting and event planning for projects designed to help advance the goals of the MethaneSAT Advocacy project. This position supports team members located in different time zones and countries within the Energy Program so the ability to work independently with minimal supervision is required. The Coordinator proactively solves problems and independently troubleshoots and addresses issues that arise and possesses strong communication skills. This is a challenging role requiring advanced organizational and time management skills, great attention to detail and the ability to respond to quickly shifting priorities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with program management, program staff and program finance staff to help maintain and monitor budget.
  • Update monthly project forecast. In collaboration with the Program Financial Analyst, review monthly reports of actual vs. budget results; investigate, and explain variances from budget for income and expense line items; and advise program managers, program staff and finance staff on trends and issues of concern.
  • Apply excellent organizational, communication, and planning skills by responding to requests for information, helping to coordinate activities and projects for the team and preparing correspondence and reports as needed.
  • Administer domestic and international contracts for consultants, including assistance in writing and processing contracts and working with program staff and consultants to ensure the fulfillment of contractual obligations and timely submission of invoices.
  • Maintain schedules and provide travel arrangements for program leadership 
  • Conduct the administrative processes of the team, which include expense reports, budget maintenance and invoice processing. Follow through with finance staff to ensure payments are made and consultants apprised. 
  • Manage other administrative tasks associated with staff, consultants and interns, including logistics, office needs, and telecommunications.
  • Assist Program staff and other colleagues to better communicate and coordinate on joint projects.
  • Assist in planning and execution of event logistics.
  • Assist in project management for the MethaneSAT Advocacy project, including cross-programmatic collaboration.
  • All other duties and responsibilities as assigned.



  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • 3 or more years of professional experience
  • Creativity, energy, attention to detail and the ability to multi-task and get work done under pressure.
  • Experience with budgeting, accounting and/or bookkeeping.
  • Excellent project management and administration skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability and willingness to work as a strong team player and independently as a self-starter.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize diverse, simultaneous tasks.
  • Proficiency in the use of PCs and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint).
  • Experience with NetSuite a plus
  • Interest in environmental advocacy is strongly preferred.
  • Must demonstrate cultural awareness and the knowledge, attitude, behavior and skills that lead to a culturally competent workplace. Must demonstrate a commitment to continued self-assessment, learning and growth to increase and broaden culturally competent skillsets that produce effective interactions with people across diverse cultures and backgrounds. This includes the ability to adapt to cultural change.
  • Fluency in English required, and one additional official UN language strongly preferred.
