Campaign Compliance Specialist

Overall Function

The Campaign Compliance Specialist will report to the Senior Political Director, Political Affairs to assist in coordination of compliance efforts across programs and affiliated entities, as well as providing general assistance to the EDF Action team.

 

The Campaign Compliance Specialist will work in coordination with Finance and Legal staff at EDF, EDF Action and affiliated entities, to ensure that financial, time and fundraising records are tracked and maintained.  The Campaign Compliance Specialist will work closely with outside vendors to meet various FEC reporting requirements.  The Campaign Compliance Specialist will also work closely with the finance team to coordinate vendor management and payment processes.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Facilitate FEC filings for Independent Expenditure Reports, working with EDF Action finance and legal staff as well as with relevant outside consultants

  • Track Independent Expenditure expenses to ensure accurate FEC disclosure, working with in-house and outside legal teams to facilitate proper compliance

  • Organize and monitor all campaign contracts and vendor payments to ensure timely administration and reporting

  • Track and monitor political spending to ensure accurate tracking of political and advocacy expenses

  • Ensure proper record keeping to meet other requirements including staff time

  • Track EDF Action in-kind contributions, including staff time, as necessary to ensure compliance related to affiliated entities.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree is required.

  • At least two years’ experience in administrative, budget management, campaign, advocacy or related work strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency in data management software including Sales Force/Common Ground, and NGP/VAN, preferred.
  • Exceptional time management and prioritization skills, ability to multi-task and get work done under pressure.  Strong personal organization skills and a relentless dedication to follow-up.

  • Good judgement, initiative, and ability to anticipate problems and follow through with confidence.

  • Strong writer and researcher.
  • An understanding of and commitment to Environmental Defense Fund’s mission of protecting public health and the environment.
  • Able to work flexible hours, particularly during busy campaign seasons when late nights and weekends may be required.
