In-use diesel regulations in California

EDF has been a stalwart proponent of California's efforts to reduce emissions from diesel engines and vehicles currently in use.

In 2000, the California Air Resources Board (CARB) developed their "Risk Reduction Plan to Reduce Particulate Matter Emissions from Diesel-Fueled Engines and Vehicles" (DRRP) and EDF has encouraged and promoted subsequent legislation as part of the DRRP.

Reducing pollution and saving lives

The plan aims to reduce diesel particulate emissions and associated health risks by 85% by 2020. A recent 2008 In-Use Diesel Truck and Bus Regulation is expected to prevent 9,400 premature deaths by 2025.
