Adjunct professor, University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill and Duke University Nicholas School of Environment and Earth Sciences. Served on the U.S. EPA Coastal Elevations and Sea Level Rise Advisory Committee.
Sam is the lead author of more than 25 peer-reviewed scientific publications, including Adapting Coastal Lowlands to Rising Seas and Adaptive Management of Flows in the Lower Roanoke River, North Carolina, USA.
