Work
Lauren Navarro-Treichler is a Senior Manager, Smart Power Initiative and Attorney who leads EDF's state smart grid regulatory efforts across the country to green the 100-year old electricity grid and make it smarter. Her work entails guiding utilities and their regulatory agencies to design smart grid plans that maximize economic, public health, and environmental benefits and enable us to reduce energy use and air pollution.
Since starting at EDF in 2007, her advocacy work has helped increase energy efficiency, encourage green buildings, and drive adoption "Pay as You Drive" insurance — initiatives that are designed to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and costs for California households and businesses.
Lauren is currently working on implementation of California's smart grid planning efforts under SB 17 (Padilla) and other clean energy issues.

Before joining Environmental Defense Fund, Lauren interned and volunteered at a number of public interest-related organizations, including the Planning and Conservation League, Senior Legal Hotline and Legal Services of Northern California. She also interned with the Law Offices of Bill Yeates, which represents organizations and individuals seeking to protect local, regional and statewide environmental resources.
