Larry Epstein

Work

Larry Epstein is the Program Manager for Environmental Defense Fund’s fisheries conservation projects in the Mesoamerican Reef region.

His project work is focused on using market-based tools and economic incentives to encourage fishermen to use sustainable fishing strategies. Larry leads a staff of four in Belize focused on building capacity and support for implementing catch shares.

He is also working with the Latin America/Caribbean Oceans team to develop new projects in Mexico and elsewhere in the region.

Background

Prior to Environmental Defense Fund, Larry worked with the United States Forest Service and National Park Service developing and implementing management plans.

He holds a BA in International Relations from Tufts University and an MPA from the Maxwell School of Syracuse University.
