Work

Concentrates in aquatic ecosystems and water delivery systems. Also works in energy.

In his 19 years at Environmental Defense, Spreck’s work has help to improve fishery and wetland habitat along the Colorado River in the Grand Canyon, on the Trinity River in northern California and in the San Francisco Bay-Delta watershed. He works with water agencies, Indian Tribes and conservationists throughout California.

Spreck is a past Convener of the California Water and Environmental Modeling Forum and served two terms on the State’s Water Plan Advisory committee. 

Currently he is a member of the following:

  • Trinity Adaptive Management Working Group (Department of Interior),
  • Delta Vision Stakeholder Coordination Group (State of California), and
  • Delta Native Fishes Recovery Team (USFWS).

Spreck is the chair of Restore Hetch Hetchy board of directors.
