Work
Alexander Golub specializes in climate economics and environmental finance, particularly the application of analytical instruments designed for financial economics. He comes to EDF with 25 years of experience in environmental and natural resource economics, and another 20 years of experience in energy and climate change economics. Specifically, Dr. Golub served as a leading climate policy advisor to the Russian government, lead the World Bank study on greenhouse gas emission management and published more than 60 peer-reviewed books and papers.

He has more than 25 years of experience in the field of environmental and natural resource economics, and nearly 20 years experience in energy economics and economics of climate change. Since obtaining his Ph.D. in 1984 in the field of mathematical economics, Dr. Golub has combined academic research with environmental advocacy, and has actively participated in building modern climate policy.
He has been a leading advisor to the Russian government on climate policy, and his economic assessment of the Kyoto Protocol played an essential role in its ratification by the Russian Federation. Since 1998, Golub has served on the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change and was a lead author for the panel's Third Assessment Report in 2001.
During the last ten years Dr. Golub has concentrated on comparative analyses of different global environmental policies with particular focus on incentives for technological innovations. He also contributed to the theory of economic growth under environmental constraints, as well as to comparative uncertainty analysis of the benefits and costs of climate policy.
Dr. Golub has published more than 60 peer reviewed books and papers including papers in Contemporary Economic Policy, Journal of Environmental and Resource Economics, Climatic Change, Environmental Finance, Energy Policy, World Development, and Carbon Finance.
Research fellow, Kennedy School of Harvard University (1998-2000); Project Director for the Harvard Institute of International Development (HIID) (1998-2000); also conducted workshops on climate change economics and policy issues in Russia, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Philippines and Climate Change and Development Workshop in HIID. Leader of the World Bank study on greenhouse gas emission management in Russia (1997-98); Accredited IPCC expert and adviser to the Russian and the Kazakh governments.
