Work

Andy Darrell is vice president of our Living Cities program for the urban environment.

He is a member of New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s Sustainability Advisory Board. He was appointed to serve on the New York State commission to recommend traffic-cutting measures in 2007.

Background

He was previously executive director of the Waterfront Park Coalition, an alliance of environmental and community groups dedicated to revitalization of waterfront neighborhoods in New York City's five boroughs.

He has also served as executive director of the Hudson River Park Alliance, which played a leading role in creating a new five-mile waterfront park in Manhattan

After attending law school, he worked as an associate at Davis Polk and Wardwell and consulted on energy efficiency projects in China and Europe.

He is a trustee of the:

  • New York League of Conservation Voters Education Fund;
  • Van Alen Institute, which fosters quality design for public spaces; and
  • International House in New York City.
