Kathryn Phillips
Director, California Transportation and Air Initiative
Land, Water & Wildlife, Living Cities Programs
Work
Kathryn currently works on federal transportation policy and California water issues.
She previously managed the organization's Central Valley clean air project, and led air quality advocates' support of the San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District's adoption of a landmark indirect source rule. This rule ensures that the development community can play a part in reducing the valley's air pollution burden.
She has worked to ensure that new state bond-funded transportation infrastructure money is spent wisely to guarantee that environmental benefits accompany infrastructure improvements, and manages the organization's transportation policy work in the state capitol.
She also coordinated Environmental Defense Fund's Federal Farm Bill campaign in California.
