Host Companies

Host companies or organizations can be of any size and can be located anywhere throughout the United States. See past host companies »

Because fellows will be working onsite at the company for 10-12 weeks, the companies involved in the program agree to:

  • Provide a dedicated, enthusiastic and supportive high-level project sponsor, as well as an accessible day-to-day manager
  • Make relevant records and information available to the fellow (energy bills, purchase records, facilities records, etc.)
  • Ensure the fellow has adequate support from relevant departments like facilities, IT and purchasing
  • Invest in a building energy audit. If no energy audit has been performed or data is out of date, fellows should have access to internal engineers with the capability to identify efficiency upgrades.
  • Pay for the fellow’s salary
  • Execute the investment plan presented by the fellow, where feasible
  • Continue to track energy use on a ongoing basis
  • Provide Environmental Defense Fund with updates on energy use, investments and implementation of energy efficiency measures six months, 1 year, and 3 years after the fellowship is complete

The Round 1 deadline for host companies is December 23, 2009.

The Round 2 deadline is March 18, 2010.
