How the Program Works

Finding Participants

Net Impact selects qualified MBA students for fellowships using an online application process. EDF is recruiting forward-thinking host companies.

Matching Fellows with Host Companies

EDF and Net Impact will identify the best fellow for each company based on geographic location and workplan content.

Fellow Training

Before the fellowship, EDF trains fellows in fundamental energy efficiency strategies for office buildings and data centers.

Fellowship Details

  • Length and Pay - Summer 2010 internships will last a minimum of 10 weeks. The exact length depends on the individual's schedule and the host company's preference. Host companies pay the interns' full summer salaries.
  • Resources from EDF - EDF recruits host companies, trains fellows in energy efficiency, and provides support to the fellows throughout the internship. More »
  • Resources from Host Company - Companies should invest in a building energy audit, pay the intern's salary and give access to relevant records and information. More »
  • Project Scope - The fellowship focuses on analyzing and facilitating energy efficiency investments within a company's office building or data center. More »
  • Final Deliverables - Fellows produce a detailed report based on the workplan developed by the host company and the fellow. More »

Deadlines for MBA Students

  • Nov 13 - 14, 2009: Net Impact Conference at Cornell University. EDF staff will be present to speak with prospective fellows at the Expo. Candidates are encouraged to stop by the EDF booth and attend the Climate Corps panel on Friday to learn more about the program.
  • Jan 11, 2010 at 5pm PST: Climate Corps application deadline. Fellows must submit their online applications via the Net Impact website. More about the online application »

  • Dec 23, 2009: Round 1 companies must confirm involvement
  • Feb 12 - Mar 1, 2010: Round 1 companies interview fellow for cultural fit and confirm match
  • Mar 18, 2010: Final company deadline for admission into the program
  • Apr 15, 2010: All companies will have confirmed participants by this date
