Work

Scott joined Environmental Defense Fund in January 2007 after seven years at the National Parks Conservation Association. At NPCA Scott created an international program to bring private sector business tools to protected area managers around the world and improve their capacity for revenue generation and cost effectiveness.

In addition, Scott managed multi-year projects with teams of more than a dozen consultants writing business plans for the US National Park Service and the US Forest Service.

Background

Scott served as a technical advisor to the United Nations Development Program on the design of a $25 million project to enhance financial sustainability for protected area systems in six countries, and has led numerous workshops in developing countries on business planning and conservation finance, in English and French. He has extensive experience working in Belize, Jamaica, Madagascar, France, and several countries of the former Soviet Union.

Scott held the position of labor market analyst at the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) in Paris, France for six years. At the OECD, Scott worked with teams of economists to develop labor market policy solutions to the unemployment crises affecting Central and Eastern European countries during the transition to free market economies.

Scott holds a B.A. in Economics from the University of California, San Diego and an M.B.A. from the Monterey Institute of International Studies.
