Work

Will McDow is Southern Forests Projects Manager with the Center for Conservation Incentives. He is based out of Environmental Defense's North Carolina office.

Will focuses on improving management of the Southeast's privately owned forestlands though conservation incentive programs and market mechanisms, with an emphasis on

  • Farm Bill programs,
  • property tax,
  • carbon markets and
  • biomass utilization.

He engages with local landowners in targeted landscapes with special emaphsis on longleaf pine and bottomland hardwood systems. 

Serves on: the NC Forestry Technical Advisory Committee which is responsible for developing best management practices to protect water quality; and the NC Forestry Council to advise the State Forester in the direction and activities of the Division of Forest Resources.
