Fish know no national boundaries, so international engagement is essential.

We have worked with foreign governments and officials to protect spiny lobster in Belize, pilot catch share programs in Mexico's Gulf of California, and rewrite fisheries law in Europe. Find out more about the oceans conservation work we're doing all over the world:

• Belize: A path to sustainable fishing

  Our goal is to restore Belize's fisheries and renew its fishing communities through catch shares.

• Chesapeake Bay: Protecting America's largest estuary

  We're designing flexible systems to meet the goals of the local fishing industry -- including the iconic blue crab fishery -- and protect the natural resources of Maryland.

• Cuba: A tropical gem with a shared backyard

  We're collaborating with Cuban scientists and park managers to preserve biodiverse coral reef systems.

• Gulf of California: Rebuilding fisheries on the Baja Peninsula

  We're helping the Mexican government and fishermen resolve conflicts and end wasteful, destructive fishing practices by implementing catch shares.

• Gulf of Mexico: Conserving a rich ecosystem and economic engine

  We focus on improving management of Gulf reef fish and shrimp fisheries, protecting endangered sea turtles and preserving the health of the region's bay and estuarine ecosystems.

• Pacific: Promoting sustainability, governance and conservation

  We're advocating for improved fishery involvement in the planning and implementation of fishery management reform -- for the benefit of both fish stocks and coastal communities.

• South Atlantic: Fighting pollution, habitat destruction and overharvesting

  We're combining a variety of approaches into one of the first true ecosystem-based management regimes anywhere.
