Postcards from New Orleans: A video for the Northeast

If anyone can sympathize with the Northeast as it reels from Hurricane Sandy’s devastation, it’s residents of New Orleans. Which, over the last few weeks, we found out first-hand.

EDF Creative Director Nicole Possin was in New Orleans interviewing local workers and business owners about the importance of wetland restoration for the regional economy and protection from storms—when Hurricane Sandy hit the northeast. Stranded down south, Possin immediately found herself surrounded by people with stories of wisdom and resilience to share.

"If anyone knows what my home states of New York and New Jersey are going through right now, it's the people of New Orleans," Possin said. "As one woman told me, sometimes in your darkest moments you find a glimmer of hope and happiness."

So, to help local residents send messages of empathy and encouragement, Possin spent two days documenting how survivors of Hurricanes Katrina, Gustav, and Isaac made it through the difficult days to recovery.

The result? This new video, Postcards from New Orleans: Hope for the Northeast.
