'Climate change is the biggest challenge we face'

Chief Scientist Steven Hamburg helps EDF drive science-based climate solutions

After seeing the impact of global warming on the forests of New Hampshire, scientist Steven Hamburg, Ph.D., switched careers from academia to advocacy.

In his role as EDF's Chief Scientist, he seeks to transform important scientific findings into effective public policy and business practices.

The role also allows him to bring together people who wouldn't ordinarily meet—like the CEO of Walmart and local maple sugar farmers, who are struggling to adapt to climate change.

"That's a way of translating science into a narrative that people can understand," Dr. Hamburg says.
