Must read: NYT op-ed on a "Republican case for climate action"

In a New York Times op-ed published last Friday, four former EPA administrators with 43 years of cumulative service made a plea for immediate climate action focused on Republican engagement: “We served Republican presidents, but we have a message that transcends political affiliation: the United States must move now on substantive steps to curb climate change, at home and internationally.”

Environmental Defense Fund President Fred Krupp agreed with their call to action. “They present a strong endorsement for U.S. leadership on climate and the need for Congress to build on President Obama’s plan — rather than fight it,” said Krupp. “While we still have a long way to go to rebuild broad bipartisan support for climate action, today’s statement reflects a growing re-engagement by Republicans in a solutions-focused dialogue.”

“This is a critical message,” continued Krupp. “It’s time to put aside our differences and act to save our planet. We’re working every day to spread this message and find real solutions to save our planet. Friday’s op-ed is a welcome contribution to our cause — and it gives me hope that our message of bipartisan collaboration is starting to get additional reinforcements.”
