Storm Surge Risk: Norfolk, Virginia

Recent studies show that the destructive potential and intensity of tropical storms and hurricanes have doubled over the past 35 years, and these trends are expected to continue because of global warming. The maps below show how increasing hurricane intensity can increase the risk of flooding in the Norfolk area.
