Hurricane Katrina Flooding in New Orleans

Recent studies show that the destructive potential and intensity of tropical storms and hurricanes has doubled over the past 35 years, and these trends are expected to continue because of global warming.
The map below shows the maximum extent of flooding that occurred in New Orleans as a result of Hurricane Katrina, one of seven major hurricanes of the 2005 hurricane season. This map was created using data from the U.S. Geological Survey [FTP server].
